Volunteer Opportunities at Mutt Life

FOSTERING
Fostering is one of the most impactful ways to support Mutt Life Dog Rescue. As a foster-based rescue, we rely entirely on volunteers to provide safe, loving temporary homes for dogs rescued from high-risk shelters.

Whether you’re available for a few days or a few weeks, fostering with Mutt Life is flexible, rewarding, and truly life-changing—for both you and the dog.

DAY OF TRANSPORT HELP
Our Transport Days are a once-a-month opportunity where we need all hands on deck as dogs arrive in Wisconsin from shelters in the South. These dogs are on the final leg of their rescue journey—heading to loving foster homes or adoption—and we need your help to welcome them! Volunteers assist with:
-
Unloading dogs from transport
-
Checking in fosters and adopters
-
Distributing dog food and supplies
-
Holding dogs during arrival
-
Microchipping and administering vaccinations
Whether you're hands-on with the pups or helping behind the scenes, every role makes a difference. It’s a fast-paced, heartwarming way to be part of rescue in action. Transports are held in Cedarburg, WI.
Commitment: Just one day a month. Impact: Life-changing.

Promote Dogs & Save LivesHelp dogs get seen—and adopted—by supporting Mutt Life’s online presence.
We’re looking for volunteers to help with our social media and website team:
Post adoptable dogs, Share rescue updates and events, Create or schedule content for Facebook/Instagram, Update their online profiles on our website and adoption websites, and Help boost visibility for dogs and our mission.
It’s flexible, can be done from anywhere, and just a few hours a week makes a big impact.

Home Visit Volunteer
After every adoption, Mutt Life requires a home visit to ensure each dog is thriving in their new environment. These check-ins can be virtual or in-person, and we need compassionate volunteers to help us follow up.
As a home visit volunteer, you will:
-
Confirm the dog is settling in well
-
Ensure vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and spay/neuter plans are in place
-
Address any questions or concerns from the adopter
You can do as many visits as you’d like, scheduled on your own time. Each visit takes less than 30 minutes of your time. It’s a flexible way to stay involved, make a real difference, and support dogs and families after adoption.

VET RECORD KEEPING
Behind every rescue dog is important paperwork that keeps them healthy and protected. We’re looking for detail-oriented volunteers to help with vet record entry and microchip registration.
Vet Record Keeping:
A low time commitment role that involves entering basic info into our vet record database after each transport—tracking vaccinations, heartworm, and flea/tick prevention for each dog.
Microchip Registration:
Help register microchips to adopters using 24Petwatch, ensuring every dog is linked to their forever home.

This is a flexible, behind-the-scenes way to make a big impact on each dog’s health and safety—all on your own schedule.

-
Volunteer and foster social gatherings
-
